Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi Toplum ve Bilim Uygulama ve Araştırma Merkezi yenilenen yüzü ve yeni dahil edilen alanları 26 Nisan 2019 tarihinde açıldı. Açılış kapsamında; Polatlı Esentepe Ortaokulu, Haymana Mangaldağı Ortaokulu ve Ayaş Oltan Şehit Olgun Gökmen Ortaokulu öğrencilerinden oluşan 6 grup öğrenci, ODTÜ öğrencilerinden oluşan 6 grup lideri eşliğinde çeşitli etkinliklere katıldılar.
METU Society and Science Research and Application Center was opened after its renovation and the addition of new areas on April 26, 2019. In the opening ceremony, 6 groups of students from Polatlı Esentepe Secondary School, Haymana Mangaldağı Secondary School and Ayaş Oltan Şehit Olgun Gökmen Secondary School participated in various activities accompanied by 6 group leaders who are METU students.
Gökevi’nde stellarium programının tanıtımı ile başlayan etkinlik; bilim çadırında uzay yolculuğu, astronomi ve astronotlar hakkında bilgilendirici bir video sunumu ile devam etti. Sunumun sonunda ise uzay yolculuğunun astronotlar için olası tehlikeleri hakkında kısa bir animasyon izletildi.
The event started with the introduction of the stellarium program at the Planetarium and continued with an informative video presentation about space travel, astronomy and astronauts in the science tent. At the end of the presentation, a short animation about the possible dangers of space travel for astronauts was shown.
Bilim ve Teknoloji Tarihi Müzesi’ndeki Göbeklitepe Atölyesi’nde; öğrencilere ilk olarak Göbeklitepe’nin keşfedilmesi ile kazıların nasıl, kimler tarafından başlatıldığı hakkında bilgi verildi. Göbeklitepe’nin tarihimizdeki önemi anlatıldıktan sonra öğrenciler kalıpları kullanarak kendilerine kilden madeni para ve minik tabletler yaptılar ve güneşte kuruyan tabletler kendilerine hediye olarak verildi.
At the Göbeklitepe Workshop in the Museum of History of Science and Technology, the students were informed about how and by whom the excavations were initiated upon the discovery of Göbeklitepe. After the importance of Göbeklitepe in our history was explained, the students made their own clay coins and tiny tablets by using the molds and the sun-dryed tablets given to them as gifts.
Kodlama Atölyesi ile çocuk kütüphanesinin bulunduğu alanda yapılan 3 Boyutlu (3D) Yazıcı etkinliğinde; öğrenciler rehber tarafından bilgisayar üzerinde 3D kullanımı hakkında temel düzeyde bilgilendirildikten sonra yine rehber eşliğinde kendi ortak tasarımlarını yaptılar ve bu tasarımlar uygulama sonunda kendilerine hediye edildi. Böylece öğrenciler uygulamalı olarak 3D teknolojisi ile tanıştılar.
In the 3-D Printer activity held in the area of the Coding Workshop and the Children's Library, the students made their own joint designs accompanied by the guides after being informed by the guide about the basics of 3D usage on the computer, and the designs they created were presented to them at the end of the application. In this way, the students had an opportunity to apply 3D technology.
Kodlama Atölyesi ile çocuk kütüphanesinin alt katında; ODTÜ Bilim İletişimi Grubu ve Pergamon Yapım işbirliğinde ODTÜ’de çekilen ve TRT Belgesel kanalında yayımlanan “Bilimin Ev Hali” isimli belgeselin gösterileceği 30 kişilik sinema salonu yer alıyor.
A 30-person movie theatre, where the audience will be shown the documentary called "Science at Home" broadcast on TRT Documentary Channel and shot in METU in collaboration with METU Science Communication Group and Pergamon Production, takes place on the lower floor of the Children's Library and the Coding Workshop.
Daha sonra, LEGO Education işbirliğiyle kurulan LEGO Maker Space hakkında öğrencilere bilgi verilerek uygulamalı tasarım çalışması yapıldı.
Afterwards, the students were informed about the LEGO Maker Space, which was founded in cooperation with LEGO Education, and the applied design workshop was held.
Klasik Otomobiller Sergisi gezildikten sonra öğrenciler görevli grup liderleriyle dış mekân oyunları oynayarak açık havada keyifli anlar yaşadılar.
After visiting the Classic Automobiles Exhibition, the students accompanied by the group leaders in charge had an enjoyable time in the open air by playing outdoor games.
Öğrenciler, öğle yemeği olarak pizza ikramı ve illüzyon gösterisinin ardından sona eren etkinlik hatırası hediyelerle uğurlandılar.
The students were offered pizza for lunch and watched an illusion show. The event came to end with the distribution of souvenirs to the students.
